Yalloak House, c. 1910

Sleeps 8 | Bedrooms 4 | Bathrooms 2

It’s not often you find a true farmstay experience coupled with beautiful, comfortable accommodation. Yalloak House is a quintessential Australian country farmhouse on a working family farm, on the peaceful banks of the Barwon River. It’s close to town, yet tucked away down its own road.

Built by the Napthine family just after the turn of the century in 1910, current owners & hosts Ged, Emily and their children found the house had fallen into a state of disrepair. In 2019, they embarked on a major project to restore the home, including restumping, replacing the wooden verandahs, and repairing and sanding the original floorboards.

Yalloak House is spacious, with four bedrooms sleeping eight people, perfect for groups of couples and families. It has a large living room with open fire and ornate surround, and the dining table seats ten comfortably. A fully fitted kitchen with all cooking utensils and coffee maker is provided for your use. You’ll love the colourful leadlight windows, high ceilings, and antique furniture throughout the home.

There are two newly renovated bathrooms, one with a deep bath, and outdoors on the verandah, you’ll find a second clawfoot bath to unwind in. Outside you’ll also find lots of seating, a firepit, and BBQ. The huge verandah overlooks the river and is a quiet place to while away the hours with a good book or glass of wine.

During your stay, experience the farm life around you - seeing sheep and cattle grazing, canola or wheat flowering, or just enjoy the serenity and green space.

It’s a three minute drive to Birregurra and Yield restaurant, five minutes Brae restaurant, and half an hour drive through stunning pristine rainforest to Lorne and the Great Ocean Road. There is so much to do in this region of Victoria - walk among giant tree ferns at Maits Rest, or appreciate the beauty of the rainforest from above on the Otway Fly tree top walk. Head to Lorne for fish & chips on the beach or if it’s raining, catch a movie at the historic Art Deco Lorne Theatre.
