Stone Mill Cottage, c. 1908

Sleeps 4 | Bedrooms 2 | Bathrooms 1.5

Built in the early 1900s, Stone Mill Cottage on Havannah is a beautiful example of stone Federation architecture. The attractive sandstone facade is immediately appealing, with its curved porch walls and fence. During the early 1900s, stone was rarely used for residential buildings in the area, and Stone Mill Cottage would have been a much-admired home. Its exact history is unknown, however it’s thought the property was built for workers overseeing railway work at the time, or perhaps for railway workers themselves.

The cottage underwent a recent renovation and period details were lovingly preserved. Original elements include the cast-iron fireplace, polished timber floorboards, original windows and doors, and ornate pressed metal, 10 foot ceilings. A new bathroom and kitchen were added, with all modern conveniences for guests.

The interior of Stone Mill Cottage has a lovely vintage country feel, with striking deep green bedroom walls and antique bed frames evoking the romance of a bygone era. The light-filled, luxurious bathroom features a walk-in shower, floating stone vanity, rose gold tapware, and natural marble floors. Gas heating and air-conditioning keeps guests comfortable all year round.

The lounge room with fireplace is furnished with antique & vintage pieces, and the cottage has Netflix and WiFi included for your entertainment needs. Alternatively, enjoy some quiet time curled up on the sofa in the enclosed sunroom with a good book.

In the open plan, eat-in farmhouse kitchen, you’ll find stainless steel appliances, a gas cooktop and Nespresso coffee machine, with coffee pods supplied. If you wish to cook, the pantry is stocked with kitchen basics, and a bottle of local wine and gourmet goodies are also waiting for you upon arrival.

Step outside to a landscaped garden with private, brick-paved courtyard and outdoor setting, the perfect spot for breakfast and coffee, or BBQ on a warm evening. In cooler months, enjoy eating al fresco around the fire pit.

Stone Mill Cottage is a fabulous country escape and the perfect base from which to explore Bathurst, a charming and historic town, which has so more to offer beyond the famous Bathurst 1000!
