Ms. Evelyn's at Mile End, c. 1912

Sleeps 6 | Bedrooms 3 | Bathrooms 1

For over one hundred years, Ms. Evelyn’s at Mile End has stood, timeless, elegant and beautiful. Built in 1912, Ms. Evelyn’s is named after Evelyn Taverner, the woman who lived there for more than fifty years.

Her story is one of racehorses and railways, corner shops and street cricket; of warm summer nights, day trips to the beach, summer fruits becoming autumn preserves, and snuggling indoors against the winter chill. Ms. Evelyn’s holds stories of family celebrations and memories made, and neighbours who were friends for life.

These days, guests are warmly invited to come and stay, to enjoy this historic home just like Evelyn did, and make their own special memories here. Ms. Evelyn’s is suited to both couples and families, sleeping up to six guests, with one queen, one double, and a third bedroom with two singles. A cot is also available, along with other essential equipment for little ones. All bedrooms are light and airy; and simply and beautifully styled with a vintage feel.

A lovely bright kitchen awaits, stocked with pantry staples, fresh bread and milk. Cook up a storm and eat outside on the back deck, while the kids run wild in the backyard! The garden also features mature fruit trees - feel free to pick your own when in season - and a large frangipani tree.

Ms. Evelyn’s is a historic beauty. With period detail around each corner, you’ll love the fireplaces, high ceilings, original floorboards, tessellated tiles, and richly-coloured leadlight windows that greet you at the front door, and continue throughout the home. The surrounding streetscapes are also largely untouched, with rows of charming stone cottages, many with stunning lacework. On warm summer evenings, take a stroll and soak up the history, then return for a G&T on the verandah and watch the sun go down.
