La Mia Cappella, c. 1890

Sleeps 4 | Bedrooms 2 | Bathrooms 1.5

La Mia Cappella, ‘my little chapel’, was built for the Methodists in 1890, and is a beautiful example of late 19th century architecture. The red brick building features nine magnificent original leadlight windows, donated by local families and organisations involved in the church community, their names recorded in the base of each window. Arched doorways, wide cypress pine floorboards, the original entry door, and soaring wood-lined cathedral ceiling create a unique & special ambience. Two remaining marble plaques of local war heroes also feature inside the church, a reminder of the history that this building and community have seen.

Owner & host Melanie and her family completed a painstaking restoration of the church to transform it into self-contained accommodation - including the addition of a mezzanine level with wrought iron & timber spiral staircase, leading to the master bedroom with ornate French queen bed, romantic free-standing bath, and powder room. Downstairs, a large gourmet kitchen was installed, with aged copper pendant lights, double sink, and all modern appliances. Both bathrooms have been luxuriously appointed, with marble herringbone flooring and vanities. The arched bathroom door was handcrafted to match the original arched doorways throughout the church, and in the centre of the ceiling is a striking wrought iron chandelier, custom designed & made by a local tradesman.

The spacious ground floor is open plan, with two king single beds (or king bed), and a cot available for those with young children. The living area features a smart TV with Chesterfield Rochester lounge and armchair with foot rest, antique dining setting, and hand-selected vintage and antique pieces to complement the church’s interior. Unwind on the lounge with a book, watch a movie, or play a board game.

Complimentary bathroom amenities include luxurious bath soak, and in the kitchen, the pantry is stocked essentials so you can enjoy cooking your favourite meals - along with tea, coffee, biscuits & chocolates. Breakfast hampers are available upon request, and guests staying three nights or more receive a bottle of wine & nibble box as part of their stay.

Outside, enjoy the established gardens and lawns surrounding the church, with outdoor table & chairs to sit and enjoy the morning sun, or a glass of wine of an evening. An additional feature for guests is a tranquil, fully-equipped yoga studio to the rear of the building. Qualified teachers cater for all levels from beginners to advanced, or you are free to practice yoga at your leisure during your stay.

La Mia Cappella is full of historic charm and character, perfect for a romantic getaway, wedding night, peaceful retreat - or simply a beautiful place to stay while you explore historic Narrandera & everything our Riverina has to offer.
